Another Case of Allergy

"Essential Oils are composed of very small molecules that can penetrate your cells, and some compounds in essential oils can even cross the blood-brain barrier" - by Dr. Axe

This particular allergy case is different. I am saying it's different because according to the parents of the sick, he is somewhat bewitched. A relative of this family is our friend and she told me the story. The family is selling grilled fish by the roadside and the costumers prefer the stall of this family. Their son was in-charge of the ingredients for the grilled fish. Maybe it is the sauce of the grilled fish that makes them different from the other vendors. The parents suspected that the other vendors became jealous and "maybe" one of them tried to hex the son.

One evening, the son felt itchy all over his body. He just ignored thinking that maybe he ate something that caused his skin to itch. However, the itchiness is getting worst and it is not only his body but until his scalp. The parents sent him to the hospital for treatment, the doctor gave him cream but the more it became worse. They sent the son to another doctor for a second opinion but the result is the same. Because of this, the parents suspected that their son was being "bewitched". The parents believe in witchcraft.

Coco-Moringa Herbal Health Oil Mix for Scalp Problem

Gaano Katagal Bago Gumaling Sa Coco-Moringa Herbal Health Oil?

Coco-Moringa Oil for Over Weight

More on Moringa Oleifera Benefits

As I am browsing the Internet to find more information about the Moringa Oleifera, I stumbled upon this website and their presentation makes me more convinced that Moringa Oleifera is really a "Miracle Tree". Miracle in a sense that, if only these methods in the presentation be replicated, what a wonderful world it would be. Please keep reading.

The presentation stated that:
"In ancient times, Moringa was known and used in traditional societies around the world. This was long before people had the tools of instant communication that we have today. So people must have discovered Moringa independently in all of these places and they all found great value in it. This fact alone suggests that Moringa is worth investigating."

What is Calcium?

Calcium is a chemical element whose presence in the body is essential for the maintenance of good health. The combination of calcium and phosphorus produces calcium phosphate, the substance that, together with carbonate, makes up most of the mineral part of bones and teeth.

If sufficient calcium is lacking in the body, such diseases as rickets, and osteomalacia may occur. Foods that are high in calcium include whole milk and skim milk, many cheeses, brocolli, cabbage, molasses, and watercress.

What Are Amino Acids?

Amino Acid is any of about twenty (20) complex substances that form the building blocks of protein. All amino acids contain nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Some of them contain sulfur as well. When food is digested, the protein in it is broken down into amino acids, which are then put together again in various combinations to make the particular kinds of protein that enter into human muscle, red blood cells, and other body tissue. Any amino acids left over are broken down further to supply energy.

Some amino acids can be manufactured by the body (chiefly in the liver) if they are not supplied in the diet. However, there are eight (8) amino acids that the body needs but cannot manufacture. They must be obtained from protein in the diet. These so-called essential amino acids are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, trypthophan, and valine. Arginine and histidine are included in this list by some authorities. Alanine, cystine, glycine, proline, serine, tyrosine, and other amino acids can be manufactured by the body.

Protein and Its Importance

Protein is a special kind of complex chemical compound that forms an essential part of every living cell. Proteins contain nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen, and sometimes other elements. All proteins are built up of smaller units, the amino acids. Millions of different proteins are formed by different arrangements and combinations of only 20 or so amino acids. When we eat foods rich in protein, enzymes in the stomach break down the proteins into their constituent amino acids; then the amino acids are absorbed into the blood and sent to the tissues of the body; there they are built up into our own kinds of proteins.

Need To Reduce?

Some of my friends who made attempts to reduce are complaining that while they are trying their best to reduce, the more they gain weight. Why?

Learn from the expert: Dr. Benjamin F. Miller.

Should one take drugs and medicine in order to reduce? He said: "Never, especially without a doctor's prescription and supervision."

Can exercise reduce weight? He said: "If your goal is substantial weight loss, the combination of diet and exercise should be carried out, but under a doctor's supervision."

Can unsightly fat be removed surgically? He said: "Operations have been performed to trim layers of fat from the ankles, abdomen, and hips. This is very difficult and by no means always effective. The operation is very rarely undertaken just to improve the appearance. But if obesity has made a woman's breasts pendulous and painful, a plastic surgeon would probably consider removing some of the fatty tissue."

Did You Ever Wonder Why People Eat Too Much or Too Little?

Everyone of us has our own way of eating, eating much or eating little. But why? Dr. Benjamin F. Miller said: "Habit".

He explained that many fortunate individuals never want to eat more or less than they need to maintain their ideal weight. One of these individuals I can say is my husband. Sometimes, if I put much rice in his plate, he will angrily nagged me and say "are you killing me?" Of course, I feel angry if he nagged me that way, but now I realized, he's right. As I said in my other posts, my husband knows himself the health benefits of plants even though he is not a scientists. He learned from a late old friend who knows "naturally" the characteristics of plants.

What Coconut Can Do for Overweight and Other Health Problems

For years coconut has taken the blame for containing saturated fat. Recent research however, is proving that certain types of saturated fat are actually good and can help your body burn fat and loss weight.

Coconut contains healthy fats called medium chain fatty acids. From one of the articles of Dr. Josh Axe, he gathered that from the study published in the International Journal of Obesity, it is  found that MCT's increase lipid (fat) oxidation which means coconut will burn up excess calories and help you lose weight. Coconut has also been shown to reduce cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, and LDL cholesterol levels. Through these study, coconut contains powerful fat burner, improves digestion, builds muscle, recovery from food poisoning, rids the body parasites, breaks down kidney stones, lessen the symptoms of glycemia.

Signs of Obesity?

If you are overweight or not much overweight as yet, you should be alert to the potential troubles that may lie ahead. Dr. Benjamin F. Miller said in his book Family Health Guide and Medical Encyclopedia:
"The obese person may suffer from one or more of the following: (1) an overworked heart and circulation; (2) shortness of breath; (3) a tendency to high blood pressure; (4) a tendency to diabetes; (5) poor adjustment to hot weather and changes of temperature; (6) increased strain and joint ligaments, often leading to chronic back and joint pains; (7) reduced capacity for physical exertion and sometimes for mental work; (8) increased susceptibility to infectious disease; and (9) personality problems. Most serious of all: medical evidence shows that overweight shortens the span of life itself."

What is Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR)

"Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the rate at which a person uses energy just to remain alive to carry on the basic vital functions of breathing, circulation and metabolism. The rate of metabolism is regulated by the thyroid gland and the BMR was formerly much used to diagnose disorders of that gland. In theory, the BMR can be measured by measuring the amount of heat produced by the body when completely at rest. In practice, the BMR is determined by measuring how much oxygen a person at rest uses in short period of time during which he breathes an accurately measured amount of oxygen. (The amount of oxygen used is an indirect measure of the heat produced). The results of a BMR test can be influenced by a number of other things: pregnancy, diabetes, various medicines, the presence of food in the stomach, and even emotions such as anxiety during the test. Other tests that are easier to perform and just as reliable have largely replaced the BMR as a test of thyroid function." (ref: Dr. Benjamin F. Miller)

Where Did the Use of Essential Oil Begin? Part lll

Why Essential Oils Are So Powerful
by Dr. Josh Axe

Essential oils are composed of very small molecules that can penetrate your cells, and some compounds in essential oils can even cross the blood-brain barrier. They differ from fatty oils (like those in vegetables or nuts) that come from large molecules as they are more easily absorbed.

For instance, most vegetable oils will stay on your skin and may even clog your pores because they are not small enough to get into your system whereas essential oils will soak right into your skin.

Where Did the Use of Essential Oil Begin? Part ll

History of Essential Oils
by Dr. Josh Axe

Aromatic plant oils are a vital component of ancient culture that dates back to nearly the beginning of time. It appears that it was the Egyptians who first made the extensive use of herbs with distillation methods around 3,500 B.C.

When King Tut's tomb was opened, 350 liters of essential oils were were discovered in alabaster jars. It's been documented that Cleopatra, who was famous for her beauty and charm, owned the first spa near the dead sea where she used essential oils for her personal beauty treatments.

Where Did the Use of Essential Oil Begin? Part 1

I want to share you my readers the e-Book that I received from Dr. Josh Axe when I joined his website.  Maybe some of you don't have this yet. I just picked the important points because this is 28 pages. He has a notice though that his book is not to provide medical advice but just for information based on his own research. Any reader should consult first his/her own doctor before following any of the research findings of Dr. Josh Axe.

Ancient documentations prove that there was already an essential oil since ancient times. It has already used by kings and queens as part of their daily health regimen which were often more costly than gold and silver.

Sprue

Sprue is a chronic disease of the small intestine in which certain food elements, especially fats and some vitamins, are not absorbed properly by the body. This kind of disease is specially common in the tropics, but a related disorder occurs in cooler climates.

Sprue's main symptom is diarrhea, at first watery and later consisting of foul-smelling, pale-colored stools containing undigested fat. A person with sprue loses weight rapidly and has a poor appetite. Anemia is likely to be present. If the vitamin B complex is not absorbed, the tongue becomes sore and shiny red in color.

Nerve

Nerve is a specialized tissue through which impulses pass back and forth between the brain and the spinal cord. And the other parts of the body. Nerve tissue consists mainly of cells called neurons. A typical neuron comprises a central body, a long threadlike extension called an axon, and a number of shorter processes called dendrites.

Nerves are made up of long, rope-like bundles of axons whose central bodies are located in the brain or spinal cord or in clusters elsewhere in the body. The gray matter in brain consists mostly of central bodies and dendrites. The axons are covered with a layer of white, fatty material called myelin. Impulses are received in its central body through the dendrites and leave by way of the axon. The free end of the axon is somewhat spread out, like a frayed end of string. This end comes close to the dendrites of other neurons but does not quite touch them. A nerve impulse must jump across this tiny gap, which is called synapse.

Benefits of Coconut Oil

When the idea of making the Coco-Moringa Herbal Oil Mix popped up in my mind, I did not really know yet the extensive use of essential oil. I know and heard the importance and benefits of essential oil but I did not bother to find out where, when, and why it all started. I did not do much research then.

What I only knew at that time and the main reason, was to extract the powerful nutrients of moringa, betel leaves, and coconut, combine their nutrients into one and find out how powerful these three plants if made as an oil.

Rickets

Rickets is a children's disease in which the bones do not harden properly, and excessive growth of cartilage occurs at the ends of the bones. It is due to lack of vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for calcification of the bones. In adults, such disorder is known as Osteomalacia. Knock-knees, bowlegs, pigeon breast, and other deformities may develop.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D  is sometimes called sunshine vitamin, because it is produced in the skin when a person is outdoors in the sun. Vitamin D plays a part in the formation and the utilization of calcium. Rickets in children is associated with lack of sufficient vitamin D. Vitamin D can be obtained in commercially prepared foods such as milk and bread. Caution should be followed when taking Vitamin D concentrate. Always follow what is prescribed by the doctor, do not take more than the orders. Deposits of calcium in the kidneys, heart and other soft tissues can result from taking massive doses of vitamin D.

Scurvy

Scurvy is a disease caused by a severe lack of vitamin C in the diet. Bottle-fed infants who receive no other foods may show signs of infantile scurvy between 6 and 12 months age. But those who are breast-fed usually obtain sufficient vitamin C from the mother's milk. This is why breast-fed is very important to new-born babies.

Scurvy makes a child pale and irritable and fails to gain weight. Painful swelling in his limbs make him cry when he is moved. The adult who is affected with scurvy feels weak and short of breath. His skin may have many blue marks like bruises. The gums become spongy and bleed easily so that eventually the teeth begin to loosen.

Boils

Boil is a raised, tender, pus-filled area on the skin caused by bacterial infection; also known as furuncle (another name for boil). The bacteria, usually staphylococci (a member of a group of bacteria that causes boils, pus forming infections and a type of food poisoning), may enter the outer layer of the skin through a hair follicle or sweat gland or through a scratch or break in the skin. The bacteria do not generally thrive unless resistance has been lowered by poor nutrition or some illness such as anemia, or diabetes.

The consequence can be grave if bacteria enter the blood stream and cause blood poisoning. It is advisable then not to open a boil by yourself, let the doctor do it for you.

Fats

Fats is one of the essential elements in the diet. Fats supply energy in concentrated form. They serve to carry the fat-soluble Vitamins A and D, and they are the chief source of vitamin E, all essential to nutrition. The digestion of fat is begun in the stomach and completed in the small intestine, where it is acted upon by the enzymes in bile.

Fats may be solid, like the fat in bacon, or liquid, like oil. Fats occur in all meats, in whole milk, and in milk products such as cheese. Butter is the practically pure fat removed from milk. Fats are also found in plant seeds, which are the source of vegetable oils.

Diet

Diet is the nourishment that a person takes regularly and the type of diet that you take has an influence on your health and your emotional well-being. Eating adequate amounts of the essential nutrients will have the fuel it needs for energy and the building blocks used for the growth and repair of the tissue.

Starch and sugar which are known as carbohydrates are the body's basic source of energy. Potatoes and grains contain starch, wheat and rice, and the foods made with them, such as spaghetti, bread, crackers, cake and so on. Sugar is supplied by vegetables, fruits, and honey.

Vitamin B

Vitamin B (vitamin B Complex) contains a number of vitamins that are usually known by their chemical names. They include thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, folic acid, and vitamin B12.

Thiamine, or vitamin B1, is found in many foods. Yeast, wheat germ, and liver are specially good sources. Beriberi is due to thiamine deficiency as are some of the symptoms seen in chronic alcoholism.

Riboflavin, or vitamin B2, occurs chiefly in milk, egg white, liver and leafy vegetables. Skin disorders, inflammation of the tongue, and cracking at the corners of the mouth may result from lack of riboflavin.

Anemia

Anemia is a disorder of the blood in which the red cells are fewer than normal or have less hemoglobin than normal. Hemoglobin is the pigment that gives the red blood cells their color. These cells are important in breathing, since they carry oxygen from the lungs to all the cells of the body, and carbon dioxide to the lungs for elimination. The red blood cells (ERYTHROCYTES) {cells that carry oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body and also help remove carbon dioxide from them. They owe their color to hemoglobin, an iron-rich pigment} are manufactured in the bone marrow. Normally there are trillions of them in the blood.

Malnutrition

Malnutrition is a condition in which the body is poorly nourished because the body is not getting one or more of the important nutritional elements in the individuals diet. We must have fats and carbohydrates (sugars and starches), to provide us with energy. Proteins, water and minerals, and also vitamins, keeps the nutritional process of the tissues working smoothly. Deficiency diseases and other disorders is subjected when these nutrients are lacking.

Beriberi

Beriberi is a deficiency disease caused by a lack of vitamin B1 (thiamine) in the diet. Beriberi attacks the nervous system, causing neuritis, circulatory disturbances, stiffness in the legs, and sometimes paralysis. Beriberi is prevalent in the Orient where polished (or white) rice forms the main part of the diet. It usually occurs when food is scarce. A more widespread use of unpolished (or brown) rice could practically wipe out the disease.

Vitamin A

Any of a group of substances found in very small amounts in most foods is a vitamin. A well-balanced, varied diet contains all the vitamins normally needed for health. Vitamins in excess of what the body needs do not increase health or well-being, and may actually produce illness. A poor diet cannot be corrected simply by taking vitamin concentrates.

Food Poisoning

Food Poisoning is an acute illness resulting from eating contaminated food. Although most cases of food poisoning are caused by bacteria, there are also non-bacterial forms. Non-bacterial food poisoning can result from eating poisonous mushrooms, plants, or berries mistakenly thought to be edible. Acute or chronic poisoning can develop from eating residues of insecticide and other sprays on fruits and vegetables. Never eat anything growing wild. Unpeeled fruits and leafy vegetables should be washed thoroughly before consuming them.

Prickly Heat

Prickly heat is an itchy rash of minute, reddish pimples. The condition is also known as heat rash. Those are especially susceptible with it are overweight people and infants. Prickly heat is most common in hot, moist weather. Contributing factor is perspiration and chaffing.

Normally, it disappears after the body cools odd. Baths are soothing but should be without soap, and a light powder should be  applied after taking a bath. Keeping as cool and dry as possible would help.

Frostbite

Frostbite is an injury to the skin and the tissues under the skin by exposure to cold where ears, nose, toes, and fingers are most often affected. The process of freezing is quite painless, the tissue turns numb and white and may freeze solid without the person's being aware of it.

Careful treatment is needed to avoid further damage during the process of thawing. The affected person should stay in a gently warm surroundings, but never near a stove or heater. Hot drinks and soup can help to feel warm.

Early Communities in Asia

Agriculture began in Eastern Asia because of its good soil and useful local crops. Such places are the highlands of northwest and central India and areas around the banks of the Yellow River in China. Both regions had good natural resources and a climate suitable for farming. Archaeologists  have found the remains of several early farming villages in both places.

First Farmers

Like a child who wants to know everything when the child is beginning to notice things around him and ask endless questions to his parents, you might also do the same.

In the natural world, sometimes you might ask, how did plants get its name and how did humans know if the plants are eligible to eat, use and so on and so forth, considering that farmers in those days does not have the technology that modern generation have now to test certain kinds of species. Life is a continuous learning process regardless of age, be it a child or an adult.

Chilblain

Did you or members of your family ever experience chilblain? What is chilblain?

Chilblain is a local reddening, swelling, and itching caused by exposure to cold. A chilblain may occur on the fingers, toes, ears, and nose. (ref: Dr. Benjamin F. Miller, M.D. Family Health Guide and Medical Encyclopedia)

My daughter have chilblain. To be honest, I did not know the name until now that I came across the definition. Sometimes my daughter has this and I wondered why, but now I already know :) Each time my daughter experience this I just apply the Coco-Moringa Herbal Oil Mix and it takes only a few minutes to vanish.

If you or your child have chilblain, moringa oil works.

Burn

Do you ever know the types of burn and how to know the degree of the burn? Below is the knowledge you can get from a doctor to distinguish what kind of degree is the burn especially if it takes time to reach a doctor so you would know how to apply your own first aid treatment while waiting for a treatment:

Burn is an injury to the skin by heat, chemicals, electricity, or radiation. There are three types of burn. A first-degree burn is one in which the skin turns red, but there are no blisters. Only the epidermis, the outermost part of the skin, is injured. A second-degree burn goes somewhat deeper. There is blistering, and the skin turns very red. A third-degree burn penetrates the skin completely and destroys both epidermis and dermis (the part of the skin beneath the epidermis). Because nerve endings in the skin are destroyed, a third degree burn may actually cause less pain than a more superficial first- or second-degree burn.

Bee Sting

Did you ever experience a bee attack and the effect of its sting? Bee sting is poisonous. Below is an advice from a doctor:

Some people are specially sensitive to bee or wasp venom, a sting can be serious. First, remove (with forceps, if possible) the stinger, if it has been left with the wound. Pain can be relieved by applying household ammonia or a paste of Sodium Bicarbonate and water. Do not plaster the wound with mud.  This old-fashioned remedy may cause infection. If a sting is on a very sensitive place such as the eyelid, lip, or tongue, or if the victim complains of weakness or swelling of the body, call a doctor immediately. If you have been prescribed medicine for bee-sting allergy, take it as soon as possible. To avoid such stings, keep away from hollow trees and other places where hives may be. (ref: Dr. Benjamin F. Miller, M.D., Family Health Guide and Medical Encyclopedia)

Bedsore

How do you care for your elders when they are sick or bedridden? Do you have the patience in taking care of them? Some elders who are sick especially bedridden are irritable, and they are quite upsetting because of their unpredictable behavior. What is the level of your tolerance in adjusting yourself in order to understand that the actions of elders who are in such a situation should be understood no matter how it hurts and how difficult to take care of them. If you love your elders and they are in this condition, this is the perfect time to let them feel your love and care for them. Just think that when you were a baby, you were almost at the same situation, only you were a baby then and your elder is old now. Better said than done, but love can conquer all difficulties.

Acid Burn

What you should do if an area of your skin is burned by a strong acid?

Acid burn is caused by a strong acid or caustic alkali, such as nitric or sulfuric acid or lye. Both acids and alkalies can cause serious damage to the skin and eyes, so instant action is called for. Bathe the burn immediately and continue to wash it with water. Be sure to remove all contaminated clothing. If large areas of the body are affected, get the victim into a shower, if possible, and keep him under the running water, otherwise pour water over him. (ref: Dr. Benjamin F. Miller M.D. Family Health Guide Encyclopedia)

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin disease characterized by itchy, red patches that become covered with loose, silvery scales. Psoriasis may be acute, but in most cases it is chronic and mild.

The eruptions appear most often on the scalp, forearms, elbows, knees, and legs, but may also occur on the chest, abdomen, back, and soles of the feet. Psoriasis is sometimes associated with arthritis. The cause is unknown, but it seems to run in families. It is not communicable.

Lupus Erythematosus

Lupus Erythematosus is a disease that is often characterized by scaly red patches on the skin. The disease exists in two forms. The discoid, or mild, type manifests itself as round or butterfly-shaped lesions on the face. Usually no treatment is necessary, but the individual should avoid sun's rays.

Acne

Acne is an inflammation of the sebaceous (oil) glands just beneath the surface of the skin, causing pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, and, in extreme cases, infected cysts and scarred skin. Acne is a disorder that sets in puberty. Cases may be brief and mild or chronic and severe, but, in one form or another, acne affects as many as 80 percent of all teenagers. Areas most frequently affected are the face, shoulders, chest, and back.

What Man Needs, Nature Has It

When I watched the movie "Iron Will", I was impressed with the scene when "Will" felt sad as he received the letter from the University where he was accepted to go to college. He knew he can't pursue his studies for financial reasons. However, his father gave him motivation with his words "the money is there when you need it". Little did Will know that he will really get the money he needed but through the hard way. His decision to participate in the race seems impossible to the organizers, how much more with his counterparts. However, his faith that he will succeed made his dream possible while impossible with others.

Tributes to Scientists

The study of Science has the most broad definition because it covers a large number and wide scope of subjects, the behaviour of the physical and natural world through an observation and experiment.

Tributes to Archaeologists

Archaeologists and Historians are almost the same. The only difference is that archaeologists study human history and prehistory through the excavation of sites, analyze artefacts and physical remains. Archaeologists as a profession, in my understanding are doing a very difficult profession. As I read and see in videos what they do, I can just imagine the efforts and capital that they spend in finding out evidences of earlier humans. Unless a person has the passion and interest in this line of profession, one does not choose this kind of profession. Nature has always the way to direct anybody or

Tributes to Historians

Through this post and the coming posts in this section, I want to pay tribute to those Historians who unselfishly contributed to the knowledge of History in all aspects in this Universe. The study of History needs a vast effort to dig deep into actual facts of events happened in the past.

Misai Kucing (Cat's Whiskers) - Orthosiphon Stamineus

Misai Kucing or in its scientific name, Orthosiphon Stamineus, is also well known for its medicinal effects especially in lowering blood sugar. This I can prove myself.

Misai Kuching (Cat's Whiskers)

Soursop

I have an experience with soursop, not with the fruit but with the leaves. One time a friend of mine said that soursop leaves are good in high blood pressure. I didn't know how it is true until one time I ate a certain food that made my blood pressure high.  When I woke up in the morning, I feel my head is heavy and aching. I just ignored it thinking that it will disappear by itself.

Plants in Prehistoric Times...and Now.

In the prehistoric times, herbs have been used by people to treat disease which have been found in tombs and burials. While some herbs have been used for health benefits, other herbs were used for rituals or spiritual reasons. The belief that the appearance of a plant revealed its possible use as a medicine was known as the doctrine of signatures.

Camp John Hay...Baguio City

Camp John Hay is another place worth seeing in Baguio City. Upon entering the Camp, the clean environment and tall pine trees will welcome you. Take a look at some of the photos inside Camp John Hay.

Beautiful Rose Garden at Baguio City

Roses...lots of description, symbolism and significance of roses but the beauty of it is even more interesting. It is even known to be a medicinal plant, but I will leave that to the experts to explain.

The rose garden at Burnham Park in Baguio city is really beautiful. This is one of the attractions at Burnham Park. Fresh roses and different kinds of colors. Take a look...

Baguio City

Hello folks! My very first post to Welcome you all is the beautiful scenery in Baguio City. The Summer Capital of the Philippines. Enjoy the beautiful mountain view, the scenery during night time, the beautiful flowers at Burnharm Park and other parts in Baguio City.
